Five Little Confessions: Driving

When you're 16 doesn't the world seem to revolve around driving and dating?  Well, it seemed like such a huge deal back then, but that was almost 15 years ago!  Crazy.  In any case, I'm going to confess to you all about my driving track record today.  Enjoy.

1. I got my drivers license two months after I turned 18.  It didn't make any sense to spend money on driving school when I wouldn't have had a car to drive at 16 anyway, so I waited until 18 when CA didn't require me to take drivers ed anymore.

2. I failed my driving test the first time I took it.  But thankfully when you're over 18 you can keep taking it one day after another. (When you're 16 you have to wait a week in between each test)  So I took it the next day and passed.  That afternoon I left for Provo to start at BYU.

3. I got into my first and only car accident when I was 19, when I was home for the summer.  Of all the thousands of people in Lancaster CA, I ran into my best friend's "ex boyfriend".  Of all the luck.

4. The only two cars I've owned have been stick shift.  Do they make stick shift minivans?

5. I like to drive on long road trips with just me and my two babies.  Okay, maybe I don't like the drive part, but I do like taking trips even when Adam can't take off work.

  1. I have had 3 accidents (all people rear ending me, just taps... no damage) and all 3 were people I knew!! One was my Moms neighbor, one was my neighbor and the other was a coworker! Crazy! I also didn't get my license until I was 18.

  2. I couldn't wait to get my license. I would have been so sad if I had to wait until 18. I think my mom was just as excited because then d she didn't have to pick me up everywhere I could just borrow her car and go. And she could make me run errands. Lol.

    1. I wasn't too bummed considering my car choices would have been a giant minivan or my dad's old truck. Ew, who wants to drive an old truck??? Turns out it was my first car at college and I ended up loving it!

    2. I actually had to drive my dad's old truck a couple of times. It was stick and didn't have power anything including power steering. It was literally the WORST! That was also the last time I drove a stick unless you count the one time I drove my college boyfriend's car to practice. It's a long dumb story. Remind me to tell it to you sometime.

    3. You just described my dad's truck to a T! No power anything, no AC, and I needed a pillow behind my back just to reach the pedals!! But when he let me take it to college I really learned to love it!
